NFC recognizes the important role parents and guardians have in a student’s educational career. Dual enrollment is an accelerated option for students who are well prepared and ready for college level courses.

  • When considering dual enrollment for your child, evaluate organizational and time management skills, as well as maturity. Dual enrollment courses are college courses and the amount of work necessary to succeed in dual enrollment courses may be much greater than in high school courses.

  • Students who successfully complete dual enrollment courses will save time and money toward their college degree with free tuition and textbooks.

  • Dual enrollment is the start of a college transcript and will become part of a student’s permanent record. Poor performance as a dual enrollment student can ultimately impact one’s post secondary career, including acceptance to a state university, academic standing and financial aid eligibility. It is important to do well in these courses to realize all the benefits of dual enrollment.

  • Students are expected to work with their high school guidance counselor or Home Education Official (parent/guardian) each term to ensure all high school requirements for graduation are met.

  • All paperwork must include required signature.

  • Students will be expected to communicate with their instructors on a regular basis. NFC expects all communication to begin with the instructor and the student. NFC follows the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) to protect personal student information as a college student, no matter their age. • The high school calendars differ from the NFC Academic Calendar. Students are responsible for attending dual enrollment courses as scheduled. NFC Academic Calendar: https://www.nfc.edu/current-students/academic-calendar/
