April 2023 – Margaret Boyd
“To have the opportunity to take college classes through my high school years is incredible. Thanks to NFC, I have spent the last two years studying so that I can graduate high school with an AA under my belt!”
Why did you choose to dual enroll at NFC? Both my older siblings dual enrolled at NFC and I watched them excel in their studies. I wanted to do the same and take advantage of the amazing opportunity of free college.
Which class have you enjoyed the most at NFC? Freshman English II with Dr. Hanna. Her tips and critiques helped shape me into a better writer. I am grateful for all that I took away from her class!
How is NFC helping you reach your goals? To have the opportunity to take college classes through my high school years is incredible. Before dual enrolling, I always felt that I was wasting time in filler classes, just waiting until I could start working towards a degree. Thanks to NFC, I have spent the last two years studying so that I can graduate high school with an AA under my belt!
What are your educational plans after high school? After graduation, I plan on staying at NFC to go through the EMT and Paramedic programs. Then, I will transfer to another college to major in Spanish. I would love to work with an ELL program to help kids learning English to reach their academic potential.
Who at NFC has inspired you? Hanging out with my peers at NFC reminds me of why we all are working towards our degrees and encourages me to persevere in my studies. All of us have stories from our pasts, families to help support, and people who want to see us succeed. Being with my peers and walking towards our goals together has inspired me more than I can express thanks for!
