Students, Lafayette High School and North Florida College, win National Future Farmers of America Competition

MADISON, FL (December 8, 2022) – Students who represented Lafayette High School competed and won on the national stage for the Future Farmers of America Parliamentary Procedure Leadership Development Event (LDE) on October 27, 2022 during the seventh session of the 95th National FFA Convention & Expo in Indianapolis.

The students, who were also enrolled with North Florida College at the time of the event, were tested to effectively communicate ideas during a meeting. LHS and NFC students were recognized during the National FFA awards ceremony on October 28, where they placed first against 40 other competing states.

NFC would like to recognize those who excelled above all others: Seth Chandler, Jaley Moseley, McKenzie Winburn, Ella Hancock, Jalan Hill, and Cason Driver.

Components of the competition included a general knowledge exam of parliamentary law, a 10-minute demonstration of parliamentary procedure, oral questions, written minutes of the demonstration as well as a team problem solving activity. Each team competed on local and state levels to earn the privilege of representing their state at the National FFA Convention & Expo.

Future Farmers of America is a youth organization preparing members for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture.
