NFC Students Earn Production Technician Certificates in Industrial Machinery Maintenance Program
MADISON, FL (April 25, 2024) – Four students in North Florida College's Industrial Machinery Maintenance 1 program have shown their mastery of the foundational, core competencies of advanced manufacturing production in two assessment areas - (1) Safety and (2) Quality Practices & Measurement. Each student successfully completed both assessments, and earned related credentials, through the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council's (MSSC) Certified Production Technician (CPT) certification set.

Students will complete two additional assessments – Manufacturing Processes & Production and Maintenance Awareness – in the College’s Machinery Maintenance 2 program to receive the MSSC CPT 4.0 certification, which is awarded after an individual passes all four assessments.
Students in the program also have the opportunity to earn Occupational Safety and Health Administration/OSHA 10 General Industry Certification while enrolled at NFC. MSSC and OSHA certification help employers recognize qualified individuals who are well-prepared to help increase the company’s productivity and competitiveness when hired.
The Industrial Machinery Maintenance program is currently accepting new students with upcoming classes set to begin in August during NFC's Fall Term 2024. High school dual enrollment students should speak with their high school guidance counselor now if interested in enrolling this fall or contact the NFC Office of Dual Enrollment at 850-973-1628 or dualenrollment@nfc.edu.
"The program is certainly flexible, offering both morning or afternoon class schedules for part-time students," said NFC Instructor Bill Eustace. "Students can complete the program faster by attending full-time, five days a week from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Graduates can expect average starting wages of between $18 and $20 hourly and we have connections with multiple industry partners that are looking for individuals to hire."
NFC Industrial Machinery Maintenance program prepares students for successful careers in the industrial machinery maintenance and repair industry. Graduates of Industrial Machinery Maintenance 2 can articulate 15 credit hours into an A.S. in Engineering Technology degree at any Florida College System (FCS) institution that offers the degree.
Industrial machinery mechanics, also called maintenance machinists, perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting in industrial production and manufacturing systems. They keep machines in working order by detecting and correcting errors before the machine or the products it produces are damaged. They check system functionality by running diagnostic tests, use power and hand tools to install new systems and replace defective parts, and may install, dismantle, or move machinery and heavy equipment according to plans. They help keep manufacturing moving forward.
