Students

  • Be enrolled in 6th – 12th grade in a Florida Public, Private, or Home Education Program or Personalized Education Program in Hamilton, Jefferson, Lafayette, Madison, Suwannee, and Taylor Counties.
  • Minimum unweighted high school GPA of 3.0 for college credit courses or have an unweighted high school GPA of 2.0 for career certificate programs.
  • For college credits, achieve a minimum score on a common placement test.

Chart

  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 for courses taken at North Florida College.
  • Maintain an unweighted high school GPA of 3.0 for college credit courses or unweighted high school GPA of 2.0 for career dual enrollment courses.
  • Cannot be scheduled to graduate prior to the completion of the dual enrollment course.
  • Students must not be over age 19 by the first day of the fall semester to participate in dual enrollment for that academic year.

 

  1. Discuss Eligibility: Meet with high school guidance counselor or Home Education Official (parent/guardian) to discuss eligibility and options for dual enrollment.
  2. Test Scores: Meet placement testing requirements.
  3. NFC Dual Enrollment Application: The high school counselor or Home Education Official will submit completed application and required documentation to the NFC Dual Enrollment Coordinator by deadlines for each semester. Requires parent/guardian signature.

    Fall Term Deadline August 1 
    Spring Term Deadline December 1

    Public, Charter, or Private School Students: Guidance Counselor must also confirm appropriate placement text scores.

    Home Education and Personalized Education Program Students: Must submit appropriate placement test scores and a signed articulation agreement. Home Education students must submit annual proof of enrollment in a Home Education Program in the NFC service area. Personalized Education Program students must provide proof of award and participation in the Personalized Education Program. Contac the Office of Dual Enrollment for forms.

  4. Activate MyNFC Account: The student will receive verification of admission and registration deadlines from the College using the email listed on the NFC Dual Enrollment Application. Log in to MyNFC portal at my.nfc.edu and select “First Time User” to activate student account. Students have access to Banner (student records), GoMail (official email), D2L (course access), and DegreeWorks (graduation worksheets). Upon admission to NFC, communication with the student will be through their official NFC email account.
  5. Registration: Meet with high school guidance counselor or Home Education Official to assist with choosing the appropriate course(s) and completing the NFC registration form. Requires guidance counselor or Home Education Official signature. The guidance counselor or Home Education Official will submit the registration form to the NFC Dual Enrollment Coordinator during the published registration period. Incomplete or ineligible registration forms may delay registration.
  6. Confirm Registration: Students must confirm registration by logging into the MyNFC account. Select Banner, select Student, select Registration Status, select Term, click Submit. Choose Student Detail Schedule to confirm registration.
  7. Textbooks:
  • Fall and Spring Terms: Public and Charter school students receive textbooks from their high school. Home Education and Personalized Education Program students receive textbooks from NFC.
  • Summer Term: All students receive textbooks from NFC.
