NFC Foundation announces recipients of Live Oak scholarship awards
Natalie Townsend wins top scholarship prize of AA degree with books
LIVE OAK, FL (Aug. 8 2019) - The North Florida College Foundation is proud to announce the six Suwannee County students who won scholarship awards as a result of a drawing held in July during the grand opening of the College’s new location in Live Oak. The awards were officially presented during a reception at the NFC Live Oak location on Aug. 8.
Congratulations to the NFC scholarship recipients:
- Natalie Townsend awarded a 60-Hour Associate in Arts degree scholarship with books
- Bailiegh Fralick awarded a free class
- William Spradley awarded a free class
- Sydney Lynn Williams awarded a free class
- Sydney Louise Williams awarded a free class
- Brentson McCall awarded a $200 book award
“I am super excited to be going to college at NFC,” said Natalie Townsend, winner of the grand prize – a full Associate in Arts degree scholarship with books included. “I am super grateful and humbled to be chosen to receive this scholarship; thankful for everyone who played a part.”
The NFC Foundation also funded up to 20 students’ tuition for the Strategies in Student Success class being offered in Live Oak this fall. According to NFC Foundation Manager Judy Lundell, the College also received support from area businesses in offering class scholarships to the six Suwannee County student four students awarded a free class of their choice in Live Oak. Supporting Suwannee County businesses include Poole Realty, North Florida Chiropractic, Dairy Queen of Live Oak and Advent Christian Village.
Myra Brock, North Florida College Foundation Board of Directors member representing Suwannee County, welcomed guests to the scholarship award presentation.
“The opportunity to work with young people in the Suwannee County area is such a thrill for me,” said Brock. “I have so much confidence in those children. When I looked at the list of students that were going to receive the scholarships, I was very impressed with the quality of the students and I think that a better selection could not have been made. I’m just very proud that these children and their families are going to be recipients of these awards.”
