NFC Honors Associate in Science Degree in Registered Nursing Class of 2022
MADISON, FL (August 9, 2022) – On Tuesday, August 2, North Florida College (NFC) held its traditional pinning and lamp lighting ceremony for its Associate in Science Degree in Registered Nursing (LPN-Bridge Program) Class of 2022. The event was held at the Van H. Priest Auditorium, where they were honored for their pursuit of furthering their education.
The pinning and lamp lighting ceremony is held for each graduating class of nurses at NFC as it commemorates the dedication and sacrifice they experienced to take the next step in their career. Tears of accomplishment, joyous cheers and words of encouragement were shared among graduates, their family and friends, and the NFC nursing faculty and staff as the graduates shared memories about their educational journey and received NFC’s official nursing pin.
Guest speaker for the evening was Ricky Rodriquez, BSN, FN, ACNO of HCA of Florida Capital.
Brianna Davis of Madison County received the Keeper of the Light Award. As Keeper of the Light, Davis will return next year to pass along the tradition to the 2023 graduating class. Carol Hart of Lowndes County, Georgia received the Nightingale Award of Excellence. Shania Hurst of Suwannee County received the Leaps & Bounds Award. Jacqueline Johnson of Gadsden County received the Academic Achievement Award.
Twenty-one graduates took part in the ceremony's “Lighting of the Lamps” and reciting of the Nightingale Pledge. Guest speaker for the evening was Ricky Rodriquez, BSN, FN, ACNO of HCA of Florida Capital.
The class will be recognized and receive diplomas during the College’s regular Fall Commencement Ceremony on December 15, 2022.
“Our graduates have returned to school to further their education during times of a pandemic and critical economic challenge,” said NFC Associate Dean for Nursing and Allied Heath Dr. James D. Holland. “It is a testament to a tenacious drive to be successful as well as do great things in healthcare.”
The LPN-RN Bridge Program is a fast-paced intensive course track that focuses on the nursing process, pharmacology, care for all ages in healthy states as well as disorders and disease. The program is a pathway to NFC's Bachelor of Nursing Degree.
