Florida Ranked as Number One State for Education; NFC Number Two for Best Two-Year College in the State
MADISON, FL (May 10, 2023) – On May 4, 2023, Florida celebrated being ranked as number one in education by U.S. News & World Report. The ranking methodology uses a variety of metrics to determine the overall quality of each state’s education system from prekindergarten through higher education. Specifically, the State is also number one for higher education for the seventh year in a row.
The report incorporated data from higher education, including graduation rates, population with advanced degrees, debt at graduation, and the cost of tuition and fees.
North Florida College is proud to be part of the Florida College System that has helped our State achieve such a notable recognition.
“Students are the true recipients of such accolades,” said NFC President, John Grosskopf. “It is their dedication to achieve degrees and workforce certificates that has allowed NFC and the State of Florida such honors. Being named one of the best is a proud moment for us all – students, faculty, and staff.”
In addition to this accolade, NFC also holds the number two spot for Best Two-Year College in Florida and ranked 19th Best Community College in America by Niche.com.

The rankings from Niche.com are based on assessment of academic programs, admissions, financial, and student life data pulled from the U.S. Department of Education in addition to millions of reviews from students and alumni.
