MADISON, FL – North Florida College (NFC) is proud to join Florida’s 27 other state colleges
and 12 state universities in affirming a
shared commitment to academic and operational excellence.
This statewide commitment follows Governor Ron DeSantis announcing Florida as the
first state to issue a joint higher education system response to U.S. Secretary of
Education Linda McMahon’s national call to action. The statement reaffirms the foundational
principles of higher education, including rigorous academic standards, free expression
and open inquiry, affordability, and preparing students for meaningful careers, engaged
citizenship, and lives of service.
At NFC, these principles reflect our longstanding commitment to providing accessible,
high-quality educational opportunities that transform lives and strengthen the rural communities we serve. Through academic excellence, workforce education, and personalized student support, NFC remains focused on helping students achieve their goals while meeting the evolving needs of our region.
Together, Florida’s colleges and universities are reaffirming the important role higher
education plays in creating opportunities, strengthening communities, and preparing students for a successful future.
