Summer Camps for Middle & High School Students

NFCC Offers Free Camps in Mechatronics, Engineering and Robotics

MADISON, FL – The North Florida Community College Career and Technical Education Center’s manufacturing and engineering programs are hosting three free camps for high school and middle school students this summer. High school students can enroll in two separate camps – Mechatronics Camp set for June 11-15 and Engineering Technology Camp June 18-22. Middle school students are invited to enroll in Robotics Camp set for July 9-11. All camps are free and require prior registration. Camp organizers encourage those interested to enroll early; space is limited.

“These are great opportunities for older students – teenagers, high school and middle school age students – to get out this summer and explore the areas of engineering, machining, electronics, robotics and 3D designs in an interactive, challenging and fun camp environment,” said Bill Eustace, Advanced Manufacturing and Production Technology Program Instructor at NFCC. “This is our third year of offering such camps, and we are excited about what is planned for this summer. It not only gives older students something to do over the summer, but also introduces or expands their knowledge in the fields of manufacturing, robotics and engineering.”

The camps are free of charge and will be held in the NFCC Career and Technical Education Center (Bldg. 13, Room 211) from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Students are asked to bring their own lunch. To enroll contact Bill Eustace at 850-973-1670 or eustaceb@nfc.edu.

Mechatronics Camp at NFCC

June 11-15 | 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. | Open to High School Students

  • Learn about engineering design and 3D printing
  • Create 3D designs with SolidWorks 3D modeling software
  • Learn precision measuring using micrometers and calipers
  • Utilize machining concepts to create projects

Engineering Technology Camp at NFCC

June 18-22 | 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. | Open to High School Students

  • Learn about electromagnetism; apply what you learn to build your own working electric motor
  • Make homemade batteries from common household items; use them to power every day devices
  • Learn about the seven basic machine components; use these to build your own mechanical device
  • Explore basic electronic components, then build your own working transistor radio

Robotics Camp at NFCC

July 9-11 | 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. | Open to Middle School Students

  • Create LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 robots
  • Enjoy STEM related activities
  • Learn about engineering
  • Participate in robotics challenges
