The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Sea, Air and Land project at
North Florida College aims to enhance the learning and teaching of STEM topics through
research and development of innovative resources, models and tools. The project provides
opportunities for teachers and students in NFC's six-county area (Hamilton, Jefferson,
Lafayette, Madison, Suwannee, Taylor) to participate in design of and competition
in challenges integrating four components: engineering design, technology and society,
electrical knowledge, and computer science.
Predominantly funded by and reflecting the statutory mission of the National Science
Foundation, North Florida's STEM SEALs project has been developed specifically for
under-served groups in our rural area, increasing the number of students who participate
in hands-on and interdisciplinary STEM experiences and expanding interest and competency
in skills and knowledge for STEM career pathways.
